Master Password
On first launch, the app will prompt you to set a Master Password. This password is used to encrypt sensitive connection details such as passwords and access tokens.
Connection credentials often contain confidential information. To protect them, Brobench encrypts these secrets using the Master Password. The password is:
- Never stored in persistent storage
- Never transmitted outside your device
- Required only once per session
Set the Master Password
You'll be asked to set the Master Password the first time you use the extension or after clearing its data. In such cases, the following dialog will appear:
Make sure you enter a long (at least 12–15 chars) but memorable password.
Entering the Master Password
When you restart the browser or sometimes when you update the extension, app will prompt you to enter the Master Password using the following dialog:
Enter the password that you set in the previous step.
Reset the Master Password
If you forget the Master Password, you can reset it by clicking on the Forgot Master Password?
link in the above
dialog.
Note that after resetting, you would need to re-enter all your connection details as they will be invalid with new master password.
App will prompt you to confirm if you want to reset the Master Password. If you confirm, it will clear the current Master Password and redirect you to Set the Master Password dialog.
Locking the Master Password
Once you enter the Master Password, it will be available for the duration of the current browser session. However, if
you want to clear the master password to app stays in locked state, you can click on the Quick Actions
-> Lock App
which lock the app and prompts you to enter the Master Password again.
